My partner and I had a ‘date night’ at Levant on Friday and had a really enjoyable evening. The setting is lovely, right from the outset, with the walk through the garden and delightful waterside decking. The real log burner was roaring when we entered giving the gorgeous dining room a welcoming, cosy feel.
Our starter included a very tasty roasted aubergine dip with flatbread, salad, olives, kohl rabi, and pomegranate seeds, and some amazing stuffed filo pastry pockets. For our mains I had the golden chicken with pomegranate molasses and harissa, which had just the right level of spice for me. My girlfriend enjoyed the braised pork with ginger and star anise, apparently a new addition to the menu and sure to be a classic.
For dessert we both went for the same, an indulgent caramel, dark chocolate, espresso, cream, and hazelnut gateau, with a pistachio brittle! Absolutely divine. The perfect finish to a great meal.
I found the service to be top class all night, friendly and attentive, and Tanya was a great host, adding a real, personal touch to the evening. Levant is a gem of a restaurant, so happy to have found it, we’ll be back soon no doubt. Thanks to the all the team there.
