This was a completely different experience to the usual pub grub you find in rural Somerset. Tanya, the owner of Levant, has a very popular catering company but she does delicious dinners in her lovely house on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It’s advisable to book to be sure of a table. There is a menu but not much choice so it’s best to check what’s on before you go. We started with a really good mezze — roasted aubergine dip and flat bread with lots of pomegranate seeds and olives and little slivers of vegetable — all delicious. Then we went on to a Moroccan style chicken breast with little new potatoes and greens. Again it was very tasty. Our pudding was made by the young waiter and was a knickerbocker glory based on Lovington ice cream and lots of marshmallow and other gooey delights — gorgeous and not too rich. We finished with fresh mint tea and a reasonable bill for 2 of £52 which included £4 for corkage. Would love to go on a hot summer night when you could sit outside by the river in the garden. The dining room was lovely with lit candles and a good atmosphere. We would definitely go back again!
